Pros and Cons of Rectangle Flags

Nothing is perfect. Everything has its benefits and drawbacks. Deciding whether the benefits of something outweigh the drawbacks can be difficult without having all the pros and cons laid out in front of you. Here are all the pros and cons of advertising with rectangle flags.

Not Unique

There are many different shapes of advertising flags. Some are more unique than others. Rectangle flags are probably the least unique shape you can find. Since they’re a pretty plain shape, they don’t grab a potential customer’s attention as much as a more unique shape would.

Keeps Shape

Some advertising flags use a simple, straight pole. Others have a bent pole that helps the flag keep its shape. Rectangle flags have a pole with a right angle that ensures the flag keeps its rectangle shape. The fact that it always holds its shape should be a pro but being held in place like that also means it catches wind like a sail. If the wind picks up too much, the flag could be damaged.

Moves with Wind

Although rectangle flags hold their shape fairly well, they’re not held completely in place. Two sides are not held by the pole, so those parts are able to flutter in the wind. This movement can be good because movement draws attention. But, too much movement can also make it harder to read what’s on the flag. So, the ability to flutter in the wind is both good and bad.

Doesn’t Taper

Many of the more unique advertising flag shapes have a major drawback. This is that they taper. As you get closer to the bottom of the flag, there isn’t enough room to put readable text. So, some of the space on the flag must be wasted and left empty. A rectangle flag is just as wide at the bottom as it is at the top. You don’t have to worry about not having enough space for your text.

Most of the pros of rectangle flags can also be cons depending on how you look at them. Having a flagpole that helps the flag keep its shape can make it easier to read but the wind can become a huge hazard. A fluttering flag will draw more attention but can also be hard to read. A flag with a less unique shape might not attract as much attention but unique flag shapes tend to taper, which leads to unusable space on the flag. You have to weigh these pros and cons carefully and decide whether or not a rectangle flag is right for you.
